The Bourne Partnership - A Hard Federation
Two unique schools, one collective aim
On 12 June 2019, the Governing Boards of both Hadlow and Shipbourne Schools voted unanimously in favour of federating the two schools. As of 2 September 2019, the two schools formed the Bourne Partnership, with Mrs Terri Daters as Headteacher at Shipbourne and Miss Nicole Chapman as Headteacher at Hadlow. At a quorate meeting on 2 September 2019, opened by Jude Johnson of The Education People, the two Governing Boards were dissolved and a joint federation Governing Body was inaugurated.

It is a real privilege to be Headteacher at Shipbourne and to have played a part in the formation of the Bourne Partnership. I joined Shipbourne School in 2013 as Senior Teacher and Maths lead, having spent the rest of my teaching career in a much larger local school. Over time, I became Interim Headteacher, then Head of School. In April 2024, upon the retirement of the Partnership Executive Headteacher, I was privileged to take on the substantive Headteacher role. Leading a small village school brings with it many exciting opportunities, and it is extremely rewarding getting to know every family so well, as the children grow and ready themselves for their individual futures. The opportunity to work collaboratively has brought with it many rewards, and I am excited to continue working in close partnership to ensure the future for both schools is bright for everyone that walks through our doors.
Nicole Chapman - Hadlow Headteacher
After graduating with BA Honours, I began my journey in education, driven by a passion for creating environments where children can thrive. For almost a decade, I have been a part of the Hadlow Primary School community, serving as Deputy Head, Head of School, and now Headteacher. Each role has deepened my commitment to the values and ethos that make this school so special.
The happiness, progress, and success of every pupil are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in nurturing each child’s potential, providing them with the support and encouragement they need to achieve their best while developing the confidence and resilience to shine in the world beyond our schools.
The Bourne Partnership includes a team of inspiring leaders, who not only want the best for the pupils at each school, but for all children across the Bourne Partnership. I know that with this passion and determination, the partnership between Hadlow and Shipbourne Primary School will continue to thrive. From a gentle smile on the school gate, to a new learning milestone; every moment in school is rewarding, and I feel so priviledged to be part of the Bourne Partnership team.
